This is true, and Columbuscoug is drawing conclusions he cannot. There is a
mountain of evidence to the contrary - countless guys that weren't even a sniff on the NBA radar, that ended up being drafted, sometimes very high. There are a ton of great athletes / players who never get the right shot because of exposure and timing.

And, Yoeli really needed to show that he was dedicated to, and had the work ethic to be a good defensive player, which he did not his junior year - too much focus on showcasing something that will never be his strength by shooting too many ill-advised 3's, rather than showcasing tenacious defense, and letting the 3's come to him, rather than the other way around. He simply looked lackluster on the defensive end, except for the very visible blocked shots. Those look impressive, but his anticipation, vision, positioning, footwork and effort on defense were really lacking. If he wanted to be a draft pick, he should have worked on that. There is something to be said for continuing to work on one's game in college, because once you move past college, it's almost as if people look at you as already peaked. In a sense, pro scouts will not fault anyone for continuing to improve through grade school, jr high, high school, and then college. But, after you leave college, there seems to be a peak, so to speak, that you go over, that makes it hard to prove you're improving as a 2nd rate pro in Europe, China, or the D-league. Prior to that end of college peak, all of the improvement you can make is respected and valued, but after that, I'm not so sure. People ten to think you should have already arrived. Basically, Yoeli's best move if he intended to be pro, would have been to stay another year - for a myriad of reasons.

It's a good thing most doctors don't leave medical school 1 year early, just to start making the big bucks - in Europe!
