It's not the 90s. Speaking Chinese isn't going to make you a bunch of money. I wouldn't trade my Mandarin skill for Spanish, but Im working really hard to learn Spanish because it's so much more useful outside of a few places in the US. Unless you are looking to work for the federal government, Mandarin is of limited use.
They'd rather hire a native born Chinese person with a US University education.
