Gorum the Old Walk-on
Lets take a look at what Bronco left:

QB

Taysom Hill.  NFL QB (as well as half of the other positions), and when healthy there was a time when he was talked about as a Heisman triphy candidate.

Tanner Mangum.  Just comming off an impressive 2015 true Freshman season with many fans demanding that he start over Hill.

While things did not work out as well as one would have hoped, When Bronco left, this was about as well stocked a position as you can get.

RB

Jamaal Williams.  NFL RB, All Time BYU Rushing Leader.

Algernon Brown.  Got offered a UDFA contract 30s after the 2017 draft ended.  His Jr year under Bronco he averaged 5.7 Ypc and had 11 TDs despite not starting until the 5th game of the season.

Francis Bernard.  As a Freshman back up RB, he averaved 6.1 ypc and had 6 TDs

Squally Canada.  While he struggled with injury,  he was good when healthy.  Just ask Wisconsin (11 carries, 118 yards and 2 TDs) or UNLV (25 carries 213 yards).

When Sitake first took a look at the RB depth chart in 2015, you know had to be was happy with what he saw.

TE (arguably the strongest position group on this year's team)

Matt Bushman, MLP, and Hank Tuipulotu are all Bronco Recruits.

WR

Now we get to the weak spots on the roster.

In 2015 Nick Kurtz had over 500 receiving yards and had been one of the top JC prospects the year before.

Juergens over 400 yards from his slot receiver spot.

Jonah Trinnaman had just committed to the Cougars and was supposed to be a legitamit deep threat out of the JC ranks.

Aleva Hifo Had committed to Bronco during the 2015 season.

While at the time it looked like there were some solid options comming through the program, depth was definately an issue.

OL

While there was some depth issues, Kalani did inherit some nice starters.  Only one member of the 2015 starting OL was a Sr.   The 4 returning starters (including Tejan Koroma) had all made Phil Steele's All Independant first or second teams

The cupboard may have been shallow, but it far from empty.

When Bronco left for Virginia, the offensive side of the ball was looking actually looking pretty good.  WR had questions and the back up OL needed work, but it was far from the morass some have claimed it to be.
