the league for more reps. They are not undefeated, which is kind of hilarious since they got to pick their team. Our drafted team nearly beat theirs (1 run in the last inning) the last time around.
We have about 4-5 teams in this league that have all completely lost their **** when we had a player leave or come late due to obligations with another team, or some school event - even though I cleared the specific lineup and changes before the game with both the coach AND the ump, and declared a lineup substitution before each inning. Yeah, we had about 3 or so complete meltdowns with parents and coaches on the other teams arguing with the ump that it should have resulted in an out at that point in the lineup, nevermind that the rules are clear that substitutions made through the ump pre-inning and with the coach pre-inning are considered non-penalty. Hilariously, there was almost a fight with some of the moms in one game, with one of the opposing moms trying to say that one of our batters had "illegal batting gloves." Now, I've played a lot of competitive baseball in my day, and I haven't heard that one before. I double checked the babe ruth rules just to be sure, and I believe there is no such thing.
My word, it's as if 1) people have never played the game of baseball; or 2) their lives suck and they are living out their failed MLB fantasies on the backs of these poor 13-15 yr old kids who are at best borderline SL types but playing rec for better PT.
It's marvelous to behold at times.
Happily, we started out getting run on a couple of games, but are now at about .500, and completely rolled our last 3 games. The kids have worked hard, and it just angers the **** out of the opposing coaches to see our team making clean plays and making contact now after all their hard work, and keeping the games close. It also helps we discovered a couple of pitchers.
Rant over.
