My daughter was walking home from school one day in the rain...
...when a complete stranger pulled over and gave her an umbrella, telling her "you look like you could use this." Then he told her it had been free, so to just keep it.

I thought it was awesome - and very thoughtful. He could've kept on driving, but he saw her, knew he had the umbrella, and then decided he didn't need it and could share and took the time to pull over, get out of the car, and give it to her.

It was some novelty give away item he'd gotten somewhere and had a bank's logo on it. But she was so appreciative. She actually has her own umbrella, but had left it in the car that day and didn't have it with her.

As a parent - one of the coolest parts of the story is that she decided that she was going to take it with her (along with her own umbrella) the next time there was rain in the forecast so that she could pass it along and give the umbrella to someone else who needed it.
