True, there was a big difference between Soviet POWs and Western ones. But even
so, I do believe that overall the Japanese treated them worse. The Japanese mindset was that surrender was dishonorable, a base act of cowardice, so POWs didn’t deserve to be treated with honor.

The Germans, OTOH, treated Soviets and other Slav POWs badly because they regarded them as inferior subhumans. But as long as you were an Aryan POW, things weren’t too bad.
