What’s the deal with expecting everyone to be completely silent? I’m on a train by myself from RI to Penn station so it’s not me that’s talking. Couple behind me is having just a typical convo that’s not at all loud. I could eavesdrop if i wanted but just not a big deal & I have no interest so I carry on with my phone. Several times someone has ssh’ed them very sharply from seats close by.
I don’t get it. This is 3 hrs of sheer boredom. Are people offended they aren’t also alone & bored? Can we really not tune out a quiet distant conversation? Seems weird.
