They are making parking spaces smaller and that makes parking backwards easier

than parking forwards. They make parking spaces smaller because it allows more people to come into their business. If I’m not mistaken number of available spaces also affects occupancy/fire code for buildings.

This is just my guess, as I have seen a number of businesses do this.
