This is why I do it. After I had an accident backing out
I was driving a tall truck, there was a big snowstorm, low profile car behind me. I never saw it until I backed into it.
If if back into a space I already know what is and isn't there. And then there's much better visibility pulling out

I'd be willing to bet if you counted the number of accidents, the "back-in"ers have significantly fewer
