and I’ve coached, and coached against, just about every kid on both sides of that game more times than I know. This entire area of PG, AF, Cedar Hills, Alpine, Highland, and Northeast Lehi is so close together that you get to know just about everyone involved in the youth sports, kids and coaches and parents.

For example the kid that drew the walkoff walk, Jackson Hill, also plays WR for PG and his dad Gary was the PG youth coach and we had a great rivalry, which we pretty much owned 😁, but they were a great team. But when these kids were 10 years old we were p,along against their team in baseball and my son was pitching and he suffered a pretty serious injury on the mound and Gary was the first guy out of the dugout to check in him, beat me to the mound. Then the next day he and Jackson showed up at our house to check on my son, brought him a small gift and just really showed some great character. I haven’t forgotten that.

And there are other parents and kids, bunches of them, that are great. Another guy posting in this thread, Vernon dozier, is another one, his kids have played with and against my sons, I’ve coached his sons and against his sons, he’s coached with me and against me, and is a great guy and friend.

And of course there are more, a lot more. Sports has been a great thing for us, meeting and becoming friends with so many people. And now many of these kids are moving in to play college sports and it gives me a bunch of schools to follow and cheer for. Honestly it’s been a great 15 years or so. Literally the best time of my life.
