Reading this article on the Ringer about Kevin Durant, there is a link to an old article written by Bill Simmons (a person favorite of mine) about the idea that many times an underachieving team with a star that leaves abruptly (gets hurt, traded, free agency or even graduation) can many times get better and achieve higher levels or success because they band together. They don’t have the superstar to use as a crutch.
BYU‘s situation right now checks a lot of the Ewing Theory boxes right now. Here’s hoping we look back in 10 months and see the manifestation and can call it the Yoeli Theory.
