Clubs will mouth the talk of skill development but most lie. Most just want your money, use your kid and don’t do a thing about making your kid a better player.

Check the licensing.
Does you coach have at least national D or C license?

Does your coach have a national youth license as well?

Do players seem to stay with the same club or do you see mass defections from year to year?

How many tourneys do they play per season? More than two is kinda a danger signal.

What league are you in?

What is your child’s goal?
