D-Day gets all the attention but don't forget:

1. The thousands of brave Canadians who landed in Dieppe, France on a death mission largely to gather intelligence on Nazi defenses helping to ensure our landing in Normandy was possible.

2. The Marines in the Pacific in similar landings (Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, etc.)

Although it wasn't WWII, it was in June and in France, Belleau Wood also deserves to be remembered.

This isn't to take anything away from D-Day and the brave men on the beaches and in the skies of Normandy, but often the media seems to take away from other engagements that are significant and show bravery. I only listed a few, there are several other major and minor engagements in World War II and other wars that deserve to be remembered as well.
