When it all boils down the severity of the punishment has more to do with the fact that the NCAA isn’t afraid to punish us like they are the Big time basketball Schools. We are not part of a P5, which now essentially runs big college Athletics. The NCAA has essentially become the rules division of a College system run by the P5, rather than running/over seeing college Athletics, like they have been in the past, It’s hard for them to punish their superiors. They are like Toby Flederson trying to keep Michael Scott in check. Sometimes he slows down the craziness but mostly he just pisses him off.

Emery broke the rules, and by the letter of the law the punishment was just, But if we were a part of a P5 conference we would have received much more of a slap on the wrist or no punishment at all (see UNC academics scandal).
