bowl game performance against a really bad team. Remember Alex Hornibrook (Wisconsin QB) had an almost identical performance against BYU in 2017 and he ended up being not that great.
I think Wilson has a ton of potential, but he doesn't have a lot of experience. We were very run-heavy last year and did not put the weight of the game on his shoulders:
Against NMSU, he was 12 for 26 for 172 yards (bad performance against a horrible team)
UMASS: passed for 167 yards (14 for 22 completions)
Northern Illinois: passed for 208 yards
Hawaii: 194 yards
He had 200+ yards against BSU (252) and Utah (204) and obviously had a phenomenal bowl game, however given these stats and limited experience I'd say 46 is probably an accurate ranking.
He just has not had opportunity to perform enough where we can confidently say he is a top QB. BYU fans always hype up their QB's. I'd like to see him perform this year and throw for more than 200 yards in most games before I hype him up.
