This sounds like a thread to brag about fancy hotel stays.
IMO, the hotel category and price depend on the type of vacation more than anything else. Unless you've got money to burn, that is.
If it's a sightseeing trip, prioritize location more than anything else. If it's a relaxing stay and you'll spend a lot of time at the hotel, splurge for a nicer place with a great hard product and amazing service.
