Also, criticisms that they scored too much and should have stopped trying to score are even more absurd. Goal differential can be key to advancement and seeding — you should not take for granted that you will not need goal differential or that no other team can match your scoring output. I agree that it is unlikely other teams will match the USWNT's performance, but there is a chance and when advancement is on the line you do everything in your power to secure your place to the utmost.
