I have a fire 10 with a detachable keyboard. MUCH more stable than the 8

and everything works fine. Much easier to load google play and all that. It works very well for what you want.

I currently use a Fire 8. Kind of clunky, and Wi-Fi is unstable. Had to hack it to put Google play

Yeah, I'd recommend against the amazon kindle (we have several) unless cost is the sole issue

You can find the regular iPad for $249 pretty often now. That is the way to go.
