He worked a pretty standard 8-5, but on top of his church calling he spent 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays for five months a year for four years driving myself and a few friends to soccer games 2 hours outside of the city — as far as I know he has always hated soccer. He also drove us to seminary at 5:30 a.m. ("it's on the way to work" was his reason, even though he didn't have to be at work for a few hours). He never had a calling with the Boy Scouts but was a fixture at the events there weren't many volunteers for.
