If you could teach your kids any two qualities, what would they be?
For me I hope I can teach my children to be kind and resilient. It’s always so rewarding as a parent to see your children treat others the way they’d want to be treated. It’s also rewarding to see your children do hard things. Yesterday, my son and daughter decided they wanted to learn to ride their bikes without training wheels. They both did great and picked it up fairly easy, but they both had some pretty nasty crashes too. My daughter crashed and was pretty upset so I offered to push he bike back to the house but she said “No, I’m going to get back on and ride it back.” It’s wasn’t anything crazy, but I was proud nonetheless. As a parent it’s especially difficult to teach them the importance of doing hard things because our natural reaction is to step in and help.
