Smack'sWife Playmaker
Zach Wilson-- my first impression is he looks like he's put on a little muscle. Says he told players he'd start throwing
with his left arm, but he has a slight tear that will need surgery, so he had to stop that. He can't lift with his left arm, his right arm is much stronger than his left. No snatching, bench-presses are allowed for him, so he does other lifted for QBs. Says his dad taught him how to throw, but... his mom posted the throwing with dad, his dad was upset that she posted his low throw, she said no one's looking at dad.

Is now throwing all the short stuff and getting his foot stuff right. Working on being a leader. Doing shoulder rehab in the morning (bands), BYU workout in afternoon, tons of throwing stuff later in the day, his progression has been good. Threw football at 39 mph yesterday, not sure whether that's good or not. Handling being the frontman of the program, he looks at it like he's just a kid like anyone else and can't let his head get too big-- he can't think that he's proven anything yet.

Working on getting mobility back. Shoulder has been immobile for 4 months, so getting all the small muscles firing again, all the scar tissue loose, is making a huge difference. In 18 days went from not being allowed to throw a ball at all to where he is now-- excited for the next 6 weeks.

In highschool he also started mid-season. When starting, only do the play that's called, not looking at the defense, but by senior year it was different. Feels that hasn't progressed all that much, yet, and knows there's so much for him to learn. Really likes talking with the coaches. Trying to find out how much say he can have with them, knows he's someone who bugs people all the time, will be asking the coaches if he can do more.

He's more into the flow of the game rather than stats, so he's been looking from the film perspective, even with the good things he did, there were things he thinks he could've done so much better. Being into the film study is new, and really helpful-- he wasn't into that as much last year because he was so new. A lot of the guys on the team are taking advantage of film study, he hopes all of them are, because he knows Utah guys probably are studying film, too.

Says Jaren Hall has a chip on his shoulder going into fall camp it'll be competitive, and both of them will make each other better, but both of them really want that spot.

BYU school is "super-hard." Knows last year "maybe some of the guys didn't buy-in as much as they should have" but seeing in the last year, people are starting to prepare more, bring guys together with them, wanting to do even more, because they know they can be a great team.

Says Coach Fesi offered him at the end of a camp, when he was 140 lbs and shorter, and he was so amazed. When Coach Fesi came here, he put his BYU "hate" behind him, and was excited for the chance to play here. Loves Steve Young's book-- one of his favorite books.
