I've been banging my head against a wall trying to figure out why my lawn is so dry this year when I kept increasing

watering times. Finally today I realized that my "Smart" sprinkler controller that is supposed to made adjustments based off of weather has been chopping about 80% off my programmed watering times even though:

  • Its been very hot (low 100s) without a hint of rain, so it shouldn't be reducing watering much if at all, and
  • Several weeks ago when I was increasing the programmed watering times again I set the controller to ignore weather anyway so I would get full watering regardless of weather
