She only went to one high school dance and never asked someone to any of the girls choice dances. She is skinny and would have made a great basketball or volleyball player if she were more coordinated. She is really smart and nerdy, she has a bachelors in computer science and a masters degree in financial mathematics. It was hard for her as she watched her shorter sisters and roommates who were more coordinated and more "fun" get married.
We met as members in the same ward after college in an area where LDS singles were scarce and it was a little awkward at first. I was in the Army where it was assumed I would be deployed within the year. She was working in finance making a lot of money, but wondering if she would ever get married.
When I asked her out I found that she was actually a really cool girl with a sense of humor who loved to get out and do things and could handle hard things, like a husband being on deployment. I've never regretted my choice. We help each other and complement each other. People give us awkward looks everywhere we go, but we have a lot of fun with it. She is grateful that I saw beyond her height and nerdiness and shows it every day, and I love her for everything she is.
Your daughter may have it rough now and I'm sure it stinks not looking like her skinnier roommates, but one day someone will come along, and he really will love her and treat her right. Give it time, it works out.
