If BYU was in AAC for the next four years and could be conference champion or
co-champion in 2-3 of those years, they would be playing in far better bowl games than if BYU goes 11-1 as an Indy. This would put BYU in more of the position of where Utah was when they were invited to be part of the P12. To me, this is more about positioning yourself for the next round of conference realignment. BYU could be better positioned to do that if they are in a conference. There is nothing that would prevent them from playing P5 teams each season. They would just have a lot more to play for if in a conference.
