couple of years and I had the chance to go to a soft opening over the weekend in Los Angeles and it was extremely underwhelming. There is not a lot of detail on the website, but they have a custom dome, a live cast, etc. I was expecting something like a more immersive IMAX/planetarium experience, but it was probably 90% community theater based on historical fiction and about 10% Apollo 11 launch and landing.
I am not sure where it will be touring aside from the SoCal and Houston, but the current plan is for multiple cities. If you like community theater, this might be your thing. If you like The Right Stuff, IMAX shows, Apollo 11 documentaries, it may not be your thing.
Just fair warning for a show that is tempting, but with cheap seats around the $50 mark and the best seats around $250. Based on the seating configuration, if you do go, get the cheap seats, I can't imaging a meaningful difference between any of the seats.
