The Dude Abides The royal we.
Just watched the Bill Russell tribute on the ESPYs. Hard to believe people who lived through the civil rights movement
are still around to talk to us about those days. It really is a reminder that we aren’t that far removed from the horrific racism that existed in our country.

Many people grew up hating black people because they simply didn’t know anything else. What a horrible evil racism is. To think people would be angry that another race was beginning to gain acceptance. It’s absurd to think about.

I can’t imagine the bravery and courage exhibited by those that lived through it and helped inspire change. The millions that were able to stand up and finally say enough is enough are American heroes.

I’ve said before that I think today’s day and age is the best time by far on earth to live. A major reason I think that is because the world is becoming more accepting of differences in others. It’s encouraging to see humans getting along with each other and movements specifically designed to inspire love and kindness toward one another. We have a long way to go but that Bill Russell segment was a great demonstration of how far we’ve come.
