My daughter is heading to Paraguay in Aug and we stopped by a N. SL missionary store to pick up a couple things for her.
While she was there they were pushing us HARD to purchase a product called Permethrin to spray on everything as a bug repellent.
They said you spray it once and it will last for the 18 months while she is there. Talked about they are the only place west of the MS. that are authorized by the EPA to sell it at this concentration besides the military. Only reason they have it is because the owner has some connections to people at the EPA and the church helped the guy with a sponsorship because of the missionaries heading around the world.
At $40 a bottle and the fact I needed 4 bottles I was a bit hesitant to just drop the money down. Anyone know anything about this stuff and it's as good as advertised?
They even make you sign an authorization and declaration page when you purchase it.
My daughters missionary papers said they are provided a small bottle of it at the Mexico MTC but was told it won't cover all their clothes.
We ended up purchasing it with the clarification I could return it in the next week if I don't want it. I wanted to see if anyone here is aware of it.
If it's as good as advertised I may go back and buy a bunch of it and use it for all our camping gear and outdoor stuff. The bugs in the South are horrible and if there is something that will help...I have no issue spending more money. They also said they can only sell it to us because we have a missionary. They won't sell it to the general public.
