We did a similar trip up in British Columbia (back in the day when a 15 hour
drive that included leaving the country was no big deal for a teacher quorum super activity, haha).

It was a fantastic activity. We got a chance to do hard things, saw some amazingly beautiful country, ate the sweetest, fattest blueberries I've ever seen, and generally had a great time. We even had a storm come up like you did and had to wait it out on shore for a while.

It wasn't hard to make the trip fun, challenging, and safe.

The only part about that trip that sucked was that the water was SO COLD. Our leaders basically had to drive us into the lake with sticks halfway through that trip so we could rinse the teenage boy funk off, haha.

Good times.
