Credit: This is a bit embarassing to post.
So when i was younger I screwed up my credit something good. Never large amounts, but enough derogatory to have a few dings on my credit.

Ive since payed off every debt, my score didnt go up so ive decided to try for a credit card.

After getting declined even from an institution I have large investments with, I got "approved" for a starter card with a 300 dollar limit.

Did I go about this wrong, or should I just stick with this card and make payments to build up the credit line eventually. Possibly something else?
