how about a fair accounting for wrongs - not too much, not too little. It seems that those who are unhappy with the honor code have mostly centered on unfair enforcement as the center of their ire. And maybe fairly so in some cases.
When someone legitimately messes up they should be held accountable but brought in with love and kindness and a legitimate opportunity whenever possible to rectify their problems. And based on their attitude and efforts, they should (and sounds like the effort is to ensure) get a chance to fix it.
