We don't have a plastic usage problem. We have plastic recycling problem.
I don't think the answer is to ban all products that aren't all natural like plastic. The real answer develop the infrastructure to properly recycle these products.

Plastic can easily be recycled. The problem is that is takes a fair amount of energy to do it in the best way possible. Which leads to the energy problems that the environuts are causing. If they would actually embrace nuclear power, we'd have plenty of energy and the ability to maintain a much better environment.
