punishment. However, I think it should be something along the lines of put on probation with the school and team for the year. ANYTHING else results in expulsion. He gets to stay with the team but is suspended for the season and is allowed to redshirt if he has one available. He still gets to stay at BYU and be "on the team" and can practice with the team but he is unable to play this season. I believe this keeps him close to those he loves and offers him some kindness/mercy but also enforces just how big a deal it is when you risk the lives of those around you.
