I didn't develop clinical anxiety until I was 34 ...
... although I was a somewhat anxious person in certain situations prior to that. So, there may have been a foundation there. But at 34, I started experiencing panic attacks and constant nausea.

I arranged to see a psychiatrist. He prescribed me anti-anxiety medication (Citalopram). It was a slow process, but over time I started feeling normal again. Once my prescription ran out, I figured I was good.

Several months later, I felt the anxiety coming back, and got back on medication. My psychiatrist thinks I would be fine at this point discontinuing it, but I don't mind taking it. I don't take it a religiously as I used to, however.

Anyway, I think anxiety cases are pretty varied from person to person. But, I definitely wouldn't put off seeing a professional about this. Not everyone experiences this, but in my case, the medication was a godsend.
