We cut the cord two years ago. Here's what we did.
Our internet provider in Springville, Utah is Xfinity. We currently pay $69 a month Ford 250 Mbps. I found at that speed is plenty fast enough to watch any streaming channel in high-def and on multiple devices.

I had an antenna put in my attic to catch the local channels. I paid an electrician to install it and connect it to the cables that were in my house that needed to run to the two rooms I have televisions. I think I paid $100 for the antenna and another $150 for the installation.

Because we do watch some cable channels, we went with PlayStation Vue. We tried Hulu live TV for a while but we're really disappointed with it, and switch back to PS Vue. I think we have the second level package which I think is like $53 a month. I'll have to check which channels you need. But, you are right that in order to watch a lot of the cable channels on their apps you have to have a cable subscription. Having Internet only, does not do that. I think we have something like 80 channels with PS Vue, and yet I think we only watch like seven. I wish I could just pay for those seven.

One thing you need to consider.what are the data caps on your internet service provider. Right now, I only have three people my house and we have a data cap I believe that is one terabyte. With just the three of us, we never come close to that cap, however when we had more than five or six people streaming we getting near and on a couple of occasions I've gone over that cap I've been charged. So you might want to check and see what your data usage is right now, and also anticipate how much were you use when you are streaming everything.

What PS Vue and my internet wepay $124 a month.
