Time for the SLTrib's annual campaign to rebrand Pioneer Day to Pie and Beer day
Kind of pathetic....
They'll find a few Salt Lake Ute fans that can't handle the fact that Pioneer Day is the official State Holiday, and will feature them, and push a story like Pie and Beer day is a huge cultural thing in Utah (it's not).
If a few folks want to have pie and beer....more power to them. But it is not a cultural event, has NO tradition (until maybe a few years ago, when the SLTrib invented it), and it doesn't even warrant any coverage. There is no community sponsored event for Pie and Beer. But, the good old SLTrib will give more coverage to people doing "Pie and Beer" than the actual parade itself....
