JC/D1/Grad Transfer RB's, WR's, and DB's......why doesn't BYU do this more?
I saw that KS said something about this years Grad Transfer additions and how it is not something they will be doing moving forward and I just wonder....why not?

When I worked in NCAA recruiting, I was surprised to learn just how many JC/Transfers go on to have successful college careers and make it into the NFL. Just to name a few JC athletes:

Aaron Rodgers, QB - Cal (JC)
Lagarette Blount, RB - Oregon (JC)
Dede Westbrook, WR - Oklahoma (JC)
OJ Simpson, RB - USC (JC)
Mike Rozier, RB - Nebraska (D1-JC)
Keyshawn Johnson, WR - USC (D1-JC)
Alvin Kamara, RB - Tennessee (D1-JC)
Cam Newton, QB - Auburn (D1-JC)

It seems like JC/Transfer athletes are a much better situation for BYU given that we struggle to retain backs all 4 years and they would only be required to stay 1-2 years making it easier to stick it out. Its also easier to land a legitimate contributor as one can evaluate talent based on a higher level of competition. And the JC success to the NFL is pretty decent.

BYU's had some great JC backs over the last 20 years. I just wonder why we don't do it more? Utah had success at the JC level recruiting backs while Kalani was there, why wouldn't he KNOW about this? Why openly state that BYU won't be recruiting these positions via the transfer route in the future? Is there something about BYU specifically that makes it not a good idea the I just don't know about? I loved how Crowton hit the JC's hard and had some great success....really wish we saw 3-4x the amount of JC/transfer prospects than we do now.
