My Blue-Goggle prediction for this season

I already posted here (https://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=21849598) my Goggle-less predictions.

Now its time to forget being reasonable and put the goggles on.

vs Utah - BYU and Utah both have trouble scoring early and we go into the half down 7-10. Wilson comes out in the second half motivated, and puts 2 early touchdowns in. Utah only manages a field goal the rest of the game, and we hold on to win 21-13. We start 1-0, end the curse, and are just outside of the polls.

@ Tennessee - Tennessee has speed and athleticism that BYU isn't prepared for. BYU goes down 14-0 fast, but responds with a score of their own before finally stopping Tennessee. Halftime sees us down 17-10. We score the next 14 points, but Tennessee ties it up late. We manage to get into field goal range, but still don't feel great about kicking a 48 yard field goal. Somehow, it goes in and we win 27-24. BYU is 2-0 and ranked 19th.

vs USC - USC comes in 1-1 and deflated. We finally start a game strong, racking up 21 points before USC kicks in their only points of the first half, 21-3. Second half USC makes it interesting with a quick TD, but we don't let up and still win the game 35-10. BYU is 3-0 and ranked 12th.

vs Washington - Gameday comes to Provo for the 7th ranked Huskies matchup with the 12th ranked Cougars. Washington and BYU have a 1st quarter stalemate, 0-0. In the second quarter BYU drives to the goal line before an untimely sack fumble that Washington recovers. They eventually score on their way back to the other side of the field and take a 7-0 lead. This score remains until late in the 3rd quarter when Pili gets a hand on a pass that floats up in the air and is caught by Austin Lee and taken back for the touchdown. 7-7. Washington's next possession they get 3 points up and keep the lead until late when we match their field goal, 10-10 with 2 minutes left. Washington gets some help when we kick the ball out of bounds and jumpstart their game winning drive. They get to the 22 yard line with 4 seconds left. Their kicker misses the FG! Butttt Sitake called timeout, and on his second attempt he drills it. 13-10 win for Washington. BYU falls to 3-1, ranked 16th in the Nation.

@ Toledo - We match each other for a few possessions, but they can't keep up with our explosive running game, and we win 45-23. 4-1, Ranked 15th.

@ USF - This game gets moved to Friday night as #25 USF takes on # 15 BYU, and this game deserves all the attention it gets. Halftime sees an insane amount of points hit the board as USF leads 31-28. In the second half points start to become tough to come by for USF, but BYU puts in 2 quick touchdowns. USF finally scores a touchdown and 2 point conversion to cut the defecit to 3, 39-42. BYU with 2 minutes left kicks a FG to add to our lead, but no one feels safe with a 6 point lead. USF is struggling to move the ball, but thanks to a few penalties they get to the 50 yard line with 25 seconds left. They call a RB screen that breaks open and scores, 45-45 before the all important XP. The kicker lines up, but the snap is bobbled and the holder gets up trying to run into the endzone before he gets dragged to the ground. We are going to OT. In OT BYU goes first and scores a quick touchdown after Hifo breaks a few tackles. USF gets the ball back, and their QB takes off through an open hole and is hit HARD by Dayan who knocks the ball out and recovers it. BYU wins 52-45 (OT) and is sitting at 5-1, Ranked 13th.

vs Boise St - Boise state is having a disappointing season, and struggles to put up much of a fight. BYU has a 24-7 lead at halftime that eventually turns into a 38-14 win. 6-1, Ranked 13th still.

@ USU - USU is also 6-1 and is ranked 23rd. Their offense doesn't skip a beat from last season, until this game. Both offenses struggle mightily early, and halftime sees us winning 6-0. USU scores the first TD of the second half to take the one point lead before BYU answers early in the fourth quarter. They fail the 2 point conversion and lead 12-7.  USU kicks a FG with just over 6 minutes to play to cut the lead to 2. BYU runs the ball excellently in their subsequent drive, and manages to gut the clock. With under a minute to go Williams breaks free and scores on a 30 yard run, and BYU wins 19-10. 7-1, Ranked 11th.

vs Liberty - Liberty keeps up in the first half and surprises a lot of BYU fans with their offense. Halftime BYU leads 24-17. In the second half BYU wakes up and puts 35 more points up to win 59-20. 8-1, Ranked 11th

vs Idaho St - Not much to say about this one, BYU wins 48-0. 9-1, Ranked 10th.

@ Umass - BYU takes a quick lead and is leading 31-0 at halftime, but only manages 3 second half points in a 34-7 victory. 10-1, ranked 9th.

vs SDSU - This game will decide BYU's NY6 fate. Houston is the clear G5 favorite with a 10-1 record being ranked 11th. BYU's hopes to get an at-large look good but not great. SDSU is having a successful season and are sitting at 8-3. Early in the game SDSU catches BYU sleepwalking and takes a quick 10-0 lead. BYU answers, but still trails at halftime 14-17. SDSU does not manage to score once in the second half. BYU's first points come off a field goal. After a few punts, SDSU gets pinned deep before Tonga storms through the line and forces a safety, giving BYU a 19-17 lead. BYU adds two more touchdowns quickly, claiming a 33-17 point lead. SDSU begins to drive, hoping to cut the lead in half with 3 minutes left. Their QB gets hit while he releases the ball and it soars right into Kafusi's hands who takes it back for 6, and BYU wins 40-17. 11-1, Ranked 8th.

The NY6 screw over both BYU (8th) and Houston (10th) by pitting them up against each other in the Cotton Bowl.

N Houston - BYU and Houston score what seems like an infinite amount of points in this game and combine for over 1200 yards. The scoring gets started right away as Houston returns the kickoff for a touchdown. BYU answers quickly, and after a turnover, scores again to take a 14-7 lead. Houston begins scoring field goals while we alternate between touchdowns and three and outs, half time sees us leading 28-16. In the second half we score first, but miss the extra point. 34-16. Houston then starts their run of three straight touchdowns while our offense becomes predictable and ineffective, giving them a 37-34 lead. We respond with a great kick return, allowing us to tie the game at 37 before the 4th quarter starts. The fourth quarter sees both teams scoring back and forth giving us a 51-51 tie with 2 minutes left, Houston's ball. Our defense comes up big forcing a stop, but Houston's punter pins us at our 7. At the 7 yard line Wilson steps back and fakes a handoff to Katoa, steps back a passes it to Shumway on a deep curl route. Shumway turns inside, and pitches the ball to a sprinting Katoa who is all by himself running down the sideline. He manages to get the ball across the endzone and gives us a 58-51 lead with 1:35 left. BYU fans are stunned that grimes had the guts to call that play. Houston still has time though, and they drive fast down the field. With 20 seconds left, they have 1st and goal at the 3 with 1 timeout. Their first play is a screen to their wr, and he easily gets into the endzone. Amid the celebrations a flag was thrown, holding on the offense. 2nd and goal at the 13, Houston throws an unsuccessful fade to the corner. 3rd and goal at the 13, 3 seconds left. Their QB cant find anyone open, takes off towards the left pylon, and while diving towards it is it by Dayan who knocks him out of bounds just before the ball hits the pylon. BYU holds on to win 58-51, goes 12-1, finishes ranked 5th in the country.

BYU fans forever remember this season, but still can't help but wonder what would have happened had Kalani not called that TO against Washington.
