My first year watching college football. I became a Notre Dame fan after watching the Lindsay Nelson/Paul Hornung day after the game, 1 hour highlights each Sunday morning. Joe Theisman was a junior. I hated Ohio State and Texas. But I enjoyed watchingTexas vs. Arkansas in the game of the century while listening to the ABC broadcast with Chris Schenkel and Bud Wilkinson.

On the pro front, I'm reminded that Brian Piccolo was still alive. The Bears and the Steelers would suffer through 1-13 seasons. Terry Bradshaw would be the #1 draft pick of the 1970 draft. Roman Gabriel was my football hero. The Rams and the Chiefs were my two favorite teams. Chiefs would beat the Vikings in the next Super Bowl on January 11, 1970.

Long ago but the memories are still fresh.
