This is a compelling question. Which indicates why the current system sucks.
You should always want your team to win rather than lose, but I picked CFP semi because it is clearly viewed as a higher tier achievement than the NY6 bowl. Kind of like losing in the 2nd round of the NCAA MBB tourney vs NIT final four.
It should never be better to finish with a loss than a win. But, it's a close call in the current set up.
