Considering that I wasn't the only one who came to the conclusion that you were

lumping personal residences into your post, perhaps my assumption wasn't that far of a reach. That being said, if you're not careful about what you invest in, you're right, real estate can fall far short of the stock market. However, real estate can be better than the S&P if done correctly.
