They had records of receiving all our payments, but for some reason they weren’t finalized in the hospital’s system. The payments say there in this state of pending until the insurance company made some sort of contractual adjustment, which triggered an alert that the bills weren’t paid off, so they just sent us a new bill.
My wife called in today, and the secretary quickly figured out the error and resolved everything, so it turns out we didn’t owe the hospital anything. In fact, they owe us $5 because we paid extra.
