wins in the trenches. They had one of the worst OL among P5 programs last year. They signed a couple superstar HS kids that they are counting on. But they just lost their starting G (Niehaus) who quit the team yesterday. Coaches had been moving him around in the start of camp trying him at both tackle spots before sending him back to G.
They also lost their only DL (Gordon) with legitimate game time from last year to a torn ACL yesterday. Their remaining DL is eight first- or second-year players and a couple converted tight ends.
If BYU is building its identity around being the toughest OL and DL around, this game will be a great opportunity to show it. And it might prove to be the difference in the game.
