Utah Cornerback Jaylon Johnson on the rivalry game:

“It means something to me now. Ever since I got here... it’s just the disrespect the fans give to us. The players, the way they talk. I just take it to heart, cause I don’t like when people trash talk and they don’t have a reason to trash talk. Now coming into it, I’m gonna have a certain attitude and just try and really prove a point against those guys.”


Utah Safety Julian Blackmon on Zach Wilson’s success against them last year:

“It just had to do with the missed assignments. As you go back and look at the game, of course a lot of people don’t understand why he’s making big plays, and it’s just little things... A lot of his big plays had to do with missed assignments— what we were doing, not what he was doing, if anything.”


Utah Slot Receiver Britain Covey was asked which is more difficult — coming back from a serious injury, or coming back from a mission:

“Definitely serious injury. The mission, I felt like I had the Spirit with me to guide me on the football field. And with the injury, I feel like the Spirits just [gone]. Nah I’m just kidding.”

Covey was asked if he’ll be on the field for game 1:

“Uhhh. Let’s just go with yes.”
