PSA for Grimes: THROW THE BALL!!! Not only are 300 yd passing games more
enjoyable to watch, but they also keep our RBs and OLs healthy. Lack of healthy RBs has costs us 1-2 wins each year over the past several years. This is especially important with our front-loaded schedule. Passing plays keep our team healthier, and they are more effective from a yards-per-play standpoint.

In some of our biggest games over the past several years, we have seemingly sacrificed the health of our RBs/QBs (Taysom) by abandoning the pass in our toughest games. Then we often have injured RBs over the next several games, which is when the team has underperformed.

Just going back the past few years:

2015: Following a 2-1 start, RB1 Adam Hine didn't play again after the 31-0 Michigan loss.
2016: Following the 2OT win vs. Miss St, RB1 Jamaal Williams didn't play the following game, a 28-27 loss to #15 Boise State. In the Miss State game, BYU had 47 runs and 28 pass attempts, leading into a short week vs. Boise State.
2017: Following the blowout loss vs. LSU, RB1 Squally Canada missed most of the next 6 games, which were all losses.
2018: After leading BYU to wins over Arizona and Wisconsin, RB1 Squally Canada wasn't the same, averaging 2.6 YPC (excluding McNeese St/UMass), and he missed the Utah game.

I don't know what the answer is, but with all the hype around Ty'son Williams, it would be fun to see what a BYU team could do with a healthy RB1 all year long. At least we'll get to play Utah with a healthy RB1 this year.
