I believe those who were involved in the discussions a few decades ago and
again a few years ago. Two schools would not budge in allowing a church affiliated school into the conference (they forget that USC was once affiliated to the Methodist Church). When Colorado applied, Baylor followed suit to not be left out as they all felt Texas and Oklahoma were actually considering the move (fake news). Baylor was declined by one school due to it's affiliation. If Baylor had been accepted, uu would have been left out.
