The ADs are not the ones who vett potential candidates.
It is the staff of the conference commissioner and it is only done at the direction of the presidents. They may establish an expansion committee comprised of college presidents but staff does the vetting.
Prior to Scott, there was absolutely no interest in expansion, by the presidents. Regardless of the opinions of anyone else, if the presidents weren't I interested than any discussion was just water cooler talk.
