Not that I'm a comic book movie guy, but I didn't find today's Spider Man news
remarkable because this type of stuff happens all the time. It's a negotiation tactic. When two sides are at an impasse, one side may feel that leaking doom and gloom to the public will convince the other side to offer up more concessions. This exact thing happened when Show Time was negotiating with David Lynch to bring back Twin Peaks. It was reported that the deal was dead and all the Twin Peaks fans freaked out. Not too long after that a deal was struck and we got ourselves another amazingly bizarre season of Twin Peaks. There's just too much money at stake for Sony and Disney to not continue partnering up on Spider Man.
