Members that I know who are primary USC, Oregon, Texas, Ohio State, Florida State, UNLV, etc. fans still respect BYU and pull for them to succeed and are happy when BYU wins (if they're not playing their primary team). 

The same cannot be said for Ewetes and Dairy Ewetes. By far, the majority of Utah and Utah State fans that I know cheer as much for BYU to lose as they do for their team to win....if not more so. It is sad. 

FWIW, I have known and played sports with former Ewete and Dairy Ewete football and basketball players. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while I like to take rivalry jabs and what not, I find it difficult to hate on or root against returned missionaries, even if they play for one of the schools up north.
