The year was 1990. Miami was ranked number 1. BYU was not ranked. National media kept talking about how The U was supposed to mop the floor with The Y. Then Ty Detmer happened. BYU beat The U 28-21. It was what launched Ty into the Heisman spotlight and that singular game is considered BYU's most important victory.
This year, we play another U who is highly regarded by national media and is expected to crush us. Are we going to have another Ty moment? If BYU wins, will it replace the 1990 game as the most important win? I think so.
