The WNBA doesn’t treat its “stars” well enough, that everything from the salary structure to the way games are officiated does not recognize the value of its star players. And, if I understand the pay model correctly, she’s likely right. As one of the few recognizable WNBA players, it’s likely that some team would probably pay her more than she’s allowed under the cap - just like some NBA players could get more than “the max” if the NBA didn’t limit salaries. The flip side of her argument is that other players in the WNBA would then get paid less than they currently do, as the league is already losing money.
Her best alternative would probably be to go overseas where there is more money in women’s BBall.
